Interacted with the client, developed and maintained enhancements
to a legacy system. Perform knowledge
transfer to both client and my immediate supervisor. Performed all tasks
related to embedded SQL submission via low-level ODBC calls to system
configured DSNs (Data Source Names), which I configured to connect to both
MS-Access and MS-SQL. Debugged and fixed bugs which were causing software
crashes and mal-functioning. Fix the build environments for this SCADA related,
MMW software product for versions 1.5, 2.0 and 2.1. Enabled the client to
present the enhancements (I made to the software) to the user group/community
to procure additional funding for the sustained maintenance of this legacy
application. Effectively communicated both verbally and in writing many
technical details both to John Maio (who has a very technical background) and
to the client who is not as technically savvy, so that each understood and
could make meaningful technical and management decisions, respectively.

system’s rewrite. Maintained, Designed
and enhancements their legacy application called OGM (Oil/Gas Management), a
heterogeneous code base written in C++, Fortran, Assembler and OLE/COM
components. Developed and maintained
the GUI interface utilizing my C++ skills and as directed via a proprietary
Berwanger coding practice in the development environment of Windows XP, Windows
2000, C++, Fortran and Assembler.

provided suggestions for enhancements to the existing “change management”

Evaluated the existing system and
communicated with the Business Analysts, the SAAS team, colleges and
interviewed management to determine new system specifications and the
integration requirements between the old system and the new. Developed and implemented software and
systems based on client requests.
Designed XML diagrams for the data transport level of the project and
created UML diagrams which documented my new system architecture for the
integration test bed and disseminated this to the client. Communicated with management, technical and
non-technical staff and served as a liaison for many systems related
discussions and/or correspondence.
Interpreted business analysts’ system specifications and incorporated
those details into the design of the software.

Evaluated over 1.8 million lines of a
heterogeneous code, which included C++, Java, UNIX scripts and embedded SQL and
found over 300 locations that needed performance tuning to meet performance
benchmarks. Communicated with team
members to address these performance issues.
Identified, isolated and resolved build/compilation problems and
reconfigured the build for the 1.8 million lines of code and actually built the
binaries via my new build configuration. Installed and configured UNIX
development/test server. Functioned as
a liaison between the management, technical staff and end users and resolved
outstanding performance issues and requests for system modifications. Inspected the code base and cleaned up code
problems. Wrote C++ programs and UNIX
scripts to auto-insert identification strings in over 6,000 source files to
allow, upon compilation, positive identification of software version via query
of the executable binaries, thus eliminating any uncertainty as to what version
of the software was currently out in production.

Monitored and directed all steps necessary
for the successful migration of the GEMS code base as stored in an SCCS source
control management on the UNIX system into the CVS source control management
system on the Windows 2003 Server Platform.
Trained staff on conversion techniques and technologies to migrate over
120,000 source files that made up the code base. Compile and built the GEMS
software in a Windows 2000 environment. Acted as lead consultant to both
management and junior level programmers for the old UNIX system as well as the
new Window based system. Addressed any issues or questions they brought up. Coordinated the migration and helped end
users adapt to the new system. Trained
junior level programmers and support staff in the methodologies needed to
maintain and support the development environment on the new Windows based
system and helped them acclimate themselves to allow for peak customer
service. Evaluated code and fixed any
discrepancies, eliminating memory stomps and leaks. Automated the decollation and re-collation of the code base from
the SCCS source control management system on the UNIX operating system to the
new CVS source control management system on the Windows servers. Instructed staff on how to properly utilize
resources for projects so as to allow for adherence to both time and money
expectations. Mentored staff and
instructed them on how to write automated code editing scripts, saving time and
money by reducing the amount of manual changes that had to be made. Wrote object oriented code that interfaced
with the Windows operating system that retrieved the process identifiers of
newly instantiated instances of executables for the purpose of process tracking
in real-time.
